Devol is a deity subjected to worship and belief in Sri lanka. He is one of the twelve deities worshiped in Sri lanka as 'Dolos Deviyo' who are believed to be intervening in the affairs of the worldlings. The practice of the worship of Devol deviyo or the cult of Devol is widespread among the Sinhalese, specially in the southwestern lowlands and coastal areas of the country. Devotees who make offerings at the shrines and perform rituals usually seek vengence, benevolece and prosperity form the deity to solve their day to day problems. The seenigama shrine consecrated to God Devol, on the Galle- Colombo main road located in close proximity to the Hikkaduwa town has became a popular destination of the devotees as well as the local and foreign tourists who visit Hikkaduwa area.

Seenigama Devol Dewalaya
The Southern Province of Sri lanka is an area with a number of attractions. Among them the Historic Seenigama Devalaya is a place visited by thousands of locals and foreigners. Seenigama is most famous for the Seenigama dewalaya. Although God Dewol is worshipped by sri lankans ,he is said to have come here form India. There are several legends associated with the God Dovel, according to the main folklore, a king named 'Raaamasinghe ". Who lived in the land called kuduppara in dambadiva in the past had seven hundred queens and seven of them were chief queens. Many people believe that this temple is a place of influence.
